Monday, 20 March 2006

It is the second week of attachment already. Time seems to past very slow last week. We went to meet the company boss and he talked to us about the company and some rules and regulations.
Back to the work floor again to walk around and see if there is anything that I can help out or learnt from the staffs. Time past rather fast when there is things for me to do. Help them to change and add on the components and tally the components with the drawing (blueprint) to see if there are any missing components. I even learnt how to check if the components are aligned properly on the electronics plate. Some components are very small so we need to use the magnifying glass to see if there is any part of the components not soldered on properly.
After dinner, we went for another meeting regarding the English teaching program for the staffs. Discuss on the time of the lesson and what are the things need to be taught. End of discussion as there is no materials to start from.

Wow! It was a great day at my work place as I get to learn how to test the integrated circuits (ICs) and to program it. Sometimes, the ICs just do not work after testing it. Felt so frustrating at first when there are more than ten in a tube do not work out. So, later the staff asked one of the engineers in charge of this to come up to take a look why it does not work. When he came up, he tried again and some do work. So, he continued with the few of it and it is about lunch time by now so he said later he try to fixed it to see why the ICs are not able to program.
After lunch, he went to change and check the equipment use to test the ICs and after him solving the problem, most of the ICs in fact all can be programmed. I felt very satisfied that I learnt and able to program the ICs. A great satisfaction!

Wanted to help the staffs to test and program the ICs again but I felt so boring just sitting there testing and programming the ICs so I went around to ask the assistant engineer to teach me about the SMT machines. Getting to know more about the machines and how it works.
Went around to ask the staffs if there is any thing that I can help them with. I am more than happy to help them to add the components to the feeder and place the electronics plates on the tray.
After lunch, went to take a look at the English teaching materials and give suggestions and which books to get for the staffs. Finally decided and when back to my work floor. Helped the staffs to search for the new drawing in the file as they need to change to do a new electronics plates and the components needed in it are different.
Time to knock off. Went back to hostel and later back to the training room to self intro ourselves to the staffs and proper lesson begin. We went out for supper after the first English lesson with Ivan Mun, Royston and another senior manager (can’t remember his name). After supper, we went to a karaoke for a singing session and backed to the hostel to have a good rest till the next morning.
Before going to bed, need to plan lesson to conduct for tomorrow. Cracking my brain..

Thursday, 23 March 2006

It’s Thursday already. Tomorrow results will be releasing. Scary?! Trying to focus for today and forget it till tomorrow.
Today, it’s my group turn to teach English to the staffs. Thinking on how should I start about conducting the English lesson as it was my first time teaching English. Language is not easy to teach but I will do my best in coaching and helping the motivated staffs and pushing and help them in one way or another to allow them to pick up English is a fast and interesting way.
Had a great day at my work place as I did learnt how to plot and draw the graph to ensure that the process is in control. Every single day is an opportunity to learn and pick up new things from the same environment or work floor.

Results released day. About half an hour past 8am, my cell phone vibrated and I took a look at it. Did not take a good look at the message at first but later when around 9am I went to view my results from the net and check my cell phone again to see if it was the same results. Felt surprised and sad at the same time, but overall I’m happy that I’m able to pass. Need to work very hard for the upcoming semesters and do my very best for this OIAP (overseas industrial attachment program).
Packing up my mood and went back to the work floor. Chatted with some colleagues and to find out more on how to clean the solder paste stained when needed to change another electronics plates and also help to check the records of components fed to the feeder.

We were called to the Human Resource department. Did not know what they call us for. When reached the HR, we found out that we need to wear the uniform. From Monday onwards, whoever had received the uniform must put it on. We need to get pants and heels to match it with.
There is a miscommunication with the Singapore’s and Dong Guan’s HR about the dress code. It is not time to point fingers at each other but just follow the instructions over here now.
After dinner, we discuss on the time and place tomorrow we want to go. We decided to go to “虎门”.
Sunday, 26 March 2006
Get to sleep a little while more, prepared ourselves for the shopping trip. Today priority is to get at least two pair of pants and one heels.
An hour or so ride to “虎门”. Had our lunch at the top floor of the shopping mall and later after we split ourselves to go get the things we need for the new attire. Shop almost the whole shopping mall and my head start to spin as there are so many people in there. The shopping mall was big, a lot of things to shop for but we need to get the necessary stuffs first before we can start to shop for other things. A good bargaining paradise!
Indeed a tired day after shopping. On our way back to the hostel, we took a short nap in the van.
Another day just ended. A brand new week is starting soon...
